The Tolkien Lovers (IMDb) Community

The store for information that is seen on the Internet Movie Data Base Discussion Boards, the topics can be diverse, but generally have to do with Tolkien, Middle Earth and it's depiction on screen.

The Nine Companions

A nice site with plenty of interesting things on it. Has a bit of an elven slant to it.

MSN Group: A Middle Earth Fantasy

I haven't yet visited this site, so I can't comment on how good/bad it is.

The Seat of Kings

Will have to check this one out too, before I can comment.

The Official Lord of the Rings Film Site

Slick site, as you would expect from a commercial web company. All eyes must be on this site at the moment: will they have a trailer for The Return of the King on here soon?

The One Ring

Comments to follow.

Council of Elrond

Whacking big site. Made to mimic Elronds' Library. I have only dipped in here and there but this is a very good site, worth a look.

MSN Group: All Things Lord Of The Rings

Yet another fan group on MSN. I'm not a member, so I can't judge it's worth.

MSN Group: Lord Of The Rings - Fair Elven Lands

Yep, another fan group!

Yahoo Group: Peoples Front of Middle Earth

I am a member of this group, as are a lot of the people who participate in the discussion boards of the IMDb. Started by Renee (Registered User) I would recommend you joined this group, they are nice people.

The Tolkien Society dot Org

I found this site a while ago, but it is not very "user friendly" and as a result it can be frustrating trying to find your way about it. Shame.

The Elvish Society

This link was suggested to me, and I haven't had a look, so if someone would like to write a review of all the websites mentioned here, just post me an email with your comments.

Middle Earth Map

I saw this link in a thread on the "Return of the King" discussion board (IMDb). I had a look and wow! The author of the page says, "There is no limit to what a bored nerd can do!" All the maps are monochrome, but he's reproduced them in Adobe Acrobatic format. It's in different sizes, including a huge one that would go on your wall nicely! Good work.

The Online Tengwar Transcriber

Found this really good site with a really clever application on it. Throw away your tengwar help files, stop pondering over which tengwar symbol to use - there's a smooth working application here that will do it for you. The only thing you need to do is work out the Sindarian or Quenyan translation of a phrase you want converted to Tengwar, type it in the top box and the appropriate rendering in Tengwar appears in the bottom window. Swish!
